Join Nature Recovery Network’s Basic Bird Identification walk with experienced local birder, Allen Stevens. The walk marks the start of bird surveying opportunities for NRN birding beginners.
Come and see how Eynsham’s community organisations are addressing the Climate and Biodiversity Crisis; join their walks and talks; take part in workshops and surveys. Sign up to their ongoing work for the planet.
Come and see our demonstration of human-powered handcrafts designed to be sustainable, useful and fun! Working with wood and wool we’ll demonstrate ancient techniques of spinning, felting pole-lathe turning and carving to produce beautiful and functional objects from sustainable organic materials. Come and have a go and be inspired to craft for yourself.
Following NRN’s 2 year water survey of 10 sites around Eynsham, local expert Dr. Maarten van Hardenbroek will help us survey the ponds and streams for invertebrates and help us understand what they tell us about how clean our water is.
Will we find, for example, the extremely rare and beautiful crystal moss animal (Lophopus crystallinus, a rare freshwater bryozoan, pictured above), which was recorded in Eynsham’s Chil Brook in the 1970s and only exists in a few other sites in the UK?
This workshop marks the start of NRN's quarterly invertebrate surveys (see events calendar for the next dates)
We are very grateful to Oxfordshire County Council for supporting this event with their contribution to the cost of equipment.
