NRN's Mid-Winter Hedging Challenge

After having to cancel our December Hedge Plantathon because of flooding, we had the challenge of getting nearly 1km-worth of double-row hedge, comprising 45 hundred whips, planted in a single day.

In the event we exchanged floods for icy weather - not at all ideal for planting...

We had the whips, but could the planting go ahead despite the frozen ground? If so, would more than two people turn out on such a chilly winter's day? How could we possibly meet the Challenge we set ourselves?
