There’s very few people who get what the world needs and understand how the world works, who then roll up their sleeves and get busy sorting it out like you. And I loved your pragmatism and your bravery. Thank you for being an inspiration.
Fiona Place: Ever the pragmatist she had a knack for keeping it simple. A real talent for transformative change aka making things happen. I’ll miss her creativity, sense of purpose, warmth and humour. Nicky, your presence will be sorely missed but your legacy lives on in those of us inspired by your example.
I have a lasting impression of someone who almost had another higher level of insight and dedication to sustainability action.
Best Foot Forward was such a brilliant pioneering thing, giving people something tangible to hold on to, trying out new things, forming foundations for so much of what’s gone after.
Nicky was a forerunner - a strong, fiercely smart and dedicated woman far ahead of the curve and a real leader in driving adoption of responsible business practice way before it was mainstream. The world owes her a lot and her legacy is great.

Having worked in Policy roles with the CBI and the World Travel and Tourism Council, she founded Best Foot Forward with Craig Simmons in 1996, one of Europe’s first and award winning sustainability consultancy and software providers, working with companies such as Coca-Cola, Tesco, GSK London 2012, IHG and Government. BFF was acquired by Anthesis Consulting in 2013. Noticing that big business struggles to make the necessary changes to a sustainable world, Nicky has focussed on ‘clean and green’ innovation and entrepreneurship in an attempt to make green growth a reality.

She has played a leading role in theoretical and practical advances in sustainability for over 20 years.

Nicky has been a leading figure on sustainability issues for 30 years, working at the interface of companies, civil society and government.
