Although we didn't manage a coordinated formal survey last year, this year we have a plan in place and would like to invite all interested parties to return for this refresher butterfly survey technique training.\r\n \r\nWhether you know them as schmetterlings, papillons or butterflies, all are welcome to participate as Peter Philp of the Upper Thames Branch of Butterfly Conservation returns to train or refresh volunteers in the standard method for recording butterflies on a transect.\r\n \r\nWe will spend about half the time going over the theory and paperwork, and then we will go into the field to practice (though don't worry, we're not expecting you to find butterflies in March!)\r\n \r\nPlease wear appropriate clothes and footwear for the field session. You may wish to bring a notebook and pencil. However some basic paperwork will be provided.\r\n \r\nButterfly Transect walkers often use binoculars to help identify the smaller species. Do bring them along if you wish.\r\n \r\nIf we have time at the end, tips will be shared on identifying our common butterflies in the field.\r\n \r\n\r\nComma butterfly on pear.\r\nPhoto: Kevan Martin\r\n \r\nPlease tell the leader on the day if you would prefer not be photographed--- This iCal file does *NOT* confirm registration.Event details subject to change. ---\r\n\r\n--- By Tendenci - The Open Source AMS for Associations ---\r\n
