Now, we are beginning the process of creating new wildflower meadows and other habitats in the 50 acres that we have for our community nature recovery.\r\nIt is so exciting, finally to get our hands in the soil and we planning monthly gatherings to start the long process of returning our riverside meadows to nature. This is the first one.\r\nWe will be working down on Changeable Furlongs (off the Wharf Stream Way), which we have leased to further NRN's community-driven landscape-scale nature recovery goals.\r\nIf you haven't been down there, yet, it is the most beautiful site. We planted the hedgerow serenaded by skylarks and ravens. Seven snipe were hunting for worms in one corner... Our wonderful bird experts, Allen Stevens and Sally Taylor, heard grasshopper warblers down there last summer.\r\nBring your thermos of tea, picnic lunch and lots cardboard (to finish mulching the hedges) and join in the creation of our new space for nature. Kevan might even bake us a cake to celebrate. We will set off from Long Mead barn with wheelbarrows at 10am. If you have one you can bring please meet us there to load up with wool.
